Covid-19: 62 more cases emerge in Telangana


Hyderabad, April 6: As many as 62 new cases of Coronavirus positive emerged in Telangana on Sunday taking the total number of cases to 321.

Since 32 persons were cured/discharged, the total number of Active Cases as on April 5 are 289. A total of 11 persons have died of Coronavirus disease so far in Telangana State.

Of 33 districts, as many as 24 districts got Coronavirus cases. Hyderabad is on top in the list of with 145 case followed by Warangal Urban – 23; Nizamabad – 19; Nalgonda – 13; Medchal – 12; Rangareddy – 11; Adilabad – 10; Kamareddy – 8; Sangareddy – 7; Karimnagar – 6; Jogulamba – 5; Medak – 5; Vikarabad – 4; three cases each in Bhadradri and Mahabubnagar; two cases each in Jagityal, Jangaon, Nagarkurnool, Suryapet and Mulugu and one case each in Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mahabubabad, Nirmal, Peddaplli and Siddipet.

Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao has reviewed with Health Minister Etala Rajender, Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar and other senior officials regarding the status and steps to be taken-up on prevention and containment of Covid-19 cases in the state.

The Chief Secretary has conducted video conference with District Collectors to intensify the containment activities in the districts.

Six Diagnostic labs are functioning on 24/7 basis to meet the Diagnostic demand. The travelers and their contacts of Markaz, Delhi are being tracked, tested and treated for COVID-19. Containment activity has been taken up in all the districts where the positive cases are reported. Till date there is no evidence of community transmission in Telangana, the Director Public Health & Family Welfare said in a media bulletin tonight.

Appeal to the Public:

  • Any person who has been a contact of any traveler from Markaz is requested to access the nearest government health care facility in case of onset of symptoms.
  • The Public is requested to stay calm and not panic. State is taking all the measures to contain the spread of the virus to protect and safeguard the public.
  • To maintain personal hygiene, hand hygiene, social distancing, cough hygiene and other preventive measures.
  • Wash hands frequently with soap and water for 20 seconds.
